Just have a look at the underside of your laptop....to see if there is a slider for the DVDRW...then just slide it out and replace it with a new one......I dont know about the Medion notebooks......I know that on Dell notebooks there are sliders to take out CD/DVDRW..Battery..and HD....to replace

You'd think that all Notebook manufacters would do this
References :
Dell 8200...M50...C610

Take it to a proper repair centre, even better if you can return it to the manufacturer for repairs.... Laptops are notoriously temperamental with a capital MENTAL, when it comes to home repairs and modifications.... At least if you give it to someone authorised to repair it, they are liable to do it right...
References :
It would be better, just to buy an external dvd drive. To find your model number, and anything else that is in your computer, download this website, and it will tell you everything that is in your computer..good luck>>

You can pull the drive out of the laptop (carefully) and read the product number. There should be a "free" service & troubleshooting guide that you can download at your laptop manufacturer's website. Contrary to what others have said here, it is not that difficult to do.

Once out and you have the product number, you can search for a replacement at the manufacturer's website or call them. Unfortunately for internal components, most are proprietary. So you have to go back to the manufacturer for a replacement or upgrade.

However, another option is to get an external USB burner instead. There are lots of other options here.
References :
You probably don't want to go there. It is very difficult to take much of anything out of a notebook and replace it. The first difficulty would be getting a tech manual that shows how to remove the keyboard. You can't do anything inside unless you remove that. Removing the drive is even harder.

Take it to a computer repair shop.
