There should be a "free" service & troubleshooting guide that you can download at your laptop manufacturer's website. Contrary to what others have said here, it is not that difficult to do. Once out and you have the product number, you can search for a replacement at the manufacturer's website or call them. Unfortunately for internal components, most are proprietary. So you have to go back to the manufacturer for a replacement or upgrade. However, another option is to get an external USB burner instead. It is very difficult to take much of anything out of a notebook and replace it. The first difficulty would be getting a tech manual that shows how to remove the keyboard.
