Dell XPS m1330 Loud CD/DVD Drive Problem
The m1330 ( http://tinyurl.com/yp3uzs ) is an awesome laptop, you’ll got a ton of looks if you take it to a public place. I’ve learned after researching and using other slot-loading drives that the sound is normal for slot-loading drive. Otherwise the laptop is perfect.

Yup yup ..same problem with my M1330. The CD sometimes runs in and out of the player by itself. Now I can’t even burn CD….I’m so ed…It’s only 1-year old…

I have an M1330 and love it. I don’t even mind that dying cat sound - I just wish it read CDs and DVDs - They can’t have the tiniest scratch or even dust for that matter. What a stupid optical drive. Anyway. See if Dell keeps their warranty word.

i have a tv with the smae optical drive, it also makes the sound, no it’s not a problem, it’s just how optical drives work!!

mine doesnt play burnt dvds or cds, only original copies…. does anyboby has this problem.???… it does make the same noise though….

I have that and also when I boot I get those sounds. It doesn’t seem to be a problem for me cause the rest of the laptop is so nice.
Plus it’s always nice to hear that your laptop is working.

hey mine is noisy as well but relatively less. However, issue is with inserting mini CDs. it does not mount. Thats a flaw by Dell

you are lucky, atleast your DVD drive is reading with a noise. My DVD drive stopped working after two days of purchase, all that glitters are not gold.
i got deceived by the sleek look.

i have this laptop too (it´s i nice dell laptop)..but i don´t know if i can insert MINI DVD or MINI CD´S… if i put them a little bit inside.. anything happens and i´m scared if a put all the minicd inside the slot the mini cd will be get blocked !! please somebody help me.. what i have to do?
