I'm having difficuly making a copy of a DVD home movie using my laptop DVD burner.?

I have an HP Pavillion dv 6000 series laptop. It has a DVD burner. I burned my camcorder home movie footage on to a DVD using my Panasonic DVD recorder. No problem there. However, when I try to copy the DVD using the HP laptop burner, I receive an error message which reads, “Cannot create or replace Video_TS. Cannot find the specified path. Make sure you specify the correct path.” Can anyone shed some light on what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like one needs a real DVD burner because Windows Movie Player does not play or burn DVDs.

How do I replace a faulty DVD-RW drive in a laptop? How do I know what model of drive to buy?

The DVD-RW drive in my laptop is faulty. I’ve got enough computer hardware know-how to reckon that I can buy a replacement drive on ebay and install it myself. Only I haven’t worked with laptops before - are DVD drives in them easy enough to access, take out and replace? And how do I know which model to get? Will the model of DVD drive be specific to my laptop, or will one model of drive be used in all kinds of laptops? So shall I search by laptop model, or shall I find out what model of DVD drive it needs? The laptop in questions in a Medion 41567
You can pull the drive out of the laptop (carefully) and read the product number. There should be a “free” service & troubleshooting guide that you can download at your laptop manufacturer’s website. Contrary to what others have said here, it is not that difficult to do. Once out and you have the product number, you can search for a replacement at the manufacturer’s website or call them. Unfortunately for internal components, most are proprietary. So you have to go back to the manufacturer for a replacement or upgrade. However, another option is to get an external USB burner instead. There are lots of other options here.

how do i know if i have a dvd burner installed on to my laptop?

how do you find out if your laptop has a dvd burner already installed in it. i mean i can play dvd’s already and i also have a ez- dub do i need that too. and i have the nero essential’s cd.
Left click on the start button. Find the icon for my computer. Click on that. It will show you Hard drives, Devices with removable storages, and network drives if you have them. Under the devices with removable stores, it will show your DVD, CD, Floppy drives and such. Look at your DVD drive and see if it says DVD-RW or anything to that effect. If it says DVD only, it is a reader. DVD - or + RW means you have a DVD Reader and Writer. Good luck, Z

How do I stop my Sony Vaio laptop DVD drive from crashing when trying to use a writeable DVD?

This behavior started somewhere after I installed Pinnacle Media Suite and Roxio media creator. I guess I could try uninstalling them but anyone know why this happens?

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

i have a Toshiba A60 laptop that dont burn dvds do i need a dvd burner with usb ? if so which one !?

There are two kinds of DVDs 1) DVD Rom (Read only Memory) only READS dvd’s and cd’s. Better replace it with a DVD r/w. 2) DVD r/w naturally can READ and BURN. If you have a DVD r/w and yet you cannot burn any disk with it, it implies two things: a) Your burning software like Nero for instance is not installed of something wrong with it. Try reinstalling it. b) Your DVD r/w is no longer working. You may replace your DVD drive If you do not know the real score of your optical drive better bring it to the Toshiba Service Centre. The advantage of having an external drive is that you can use it with any computer. But the draw back is that it becomes an additional hardware you have to bring aside from your laptop when you are to travel with it.

Should I install in my 1yr old Xps M1210 Laptop A DVD Burner and More memory?

Do you think is worth it to Install in a 1 year old Dell Xps M1210 Laptop a DVD burner and more memory? Is this reccomended for a year old laptop?or would it be too expensive and I should just wait til I could afford a New laptop?
Thanks

the DVD burner, wait for your next computer, DVD burners are such an unused luxury, it's not worth the investment right now on a 1yr old rig, more RAM on the other hand, is always worth a few bucks, as it's the single thing that could most benefit your performance.
